Droidbuilders Charity Infomation
2023 Chosen Charity MAKE-A-WISH
Like every Star Wars fan group, charity work is one of the reasons we build and take our droids to events.
Over the years we have collected for a number of different charities that have had personal connections to various builders/familes, our past charities have been:
- MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association)
- Calm (Campaign Against Living Miserably)
- Meningitis Now
- NAS (National Autistic Society)
Prior to COVID members of the UK R2 Builders Club donated parts for the UK to build their own R2-KT, and just before COVID hit KT17 did one small shakedown event. For more information on R2-KT visit here.
After COVID DroidBuilders UK needed a new charity, as Make-A-Wish is the chosen charity of R2-KT it was decided that this would be the main charity from July 2022.
Make-A-Wish is a charity for children with critical illnesses.
Over 60,000 children in the UK have been diagnosed with a critical condition, changing their lives and the lives of their families forever. For them, the joy of childhood is brought to an abrupt end, with treatment plans, hospital visits and sleepless nights taking over.
By donating money it provides a wish, which revives a childhood stolen by critical illness. It brings light and joy to children and their loved ones and leaves a profound and lasting impact on all their lives.
