South West Model Show

Twice a year (Feb/Sep) Bovington Tank Museum near Poole hosts the South West Model Show. The Droid Builders applied for a 2*2m stand and were accepted and had a very nice placement in front of a Chieftain tank in the Tamiya Hall. Unloading and loading was great and only a short walk to our stand. The floor was mostly resin painted concrete and provided a nice driving area, Saturday was a lot busier than Sun, but allowed plenty of time for us to walk around the museum and see the other stands and exhibitors.

As this was our first visit to the Tank Museum we kept it light, but will had 6 Astromechs, an MSE, small BB-8 type drod and parts. We seemed to be popular and have already been asked back, which is really good.

Whilst Doug and Lee may not have enjoyed the tanks as much as Oliver was a great experience and looking forward to going back with a greater variety of droids.

Along with tanks there were a few Daleks (however they weren’t allowed into the Tamiya Hall) there were plenty of stands with either exhibitors or retailers. The majority of displays were mititary in nature as expected, however was a nice selection to show how bad my modelling skills are.

The University of Bournemouth had an excellent table showing their modelling skills, the walkman and supersize tape were awesome.
